Goodrich EPP has developed a new inorganic resin called FyreRoc Fireproof Composite Material System. Originally developed for the needs of US Navy ships, this remarkable material is based on a patented resin system that will not burn, produce smoke, toxic fumes, or generate heat when exposed to fire or extreme temperatures.
FyreRoc Fireproof Materials have the following characteristics:
- Non-Combustible
- Thermally Stable
- Hydrolytically Stable
- Low Thermal Conductivity
- Mid-Range Flexural Strength
- Compatibility with Various Fiber Reinforcements (Carbon, Glass, Etc.)
- Numerous Methods of Processing
- Meets MIL-STD-2031 Requirements for Fire Safety
- Affordable
Capable of performing at conditions reaching 2000 °F, FyreRoc resins can meet the toughest needs.
The unique properties of FyreRoc resin allow processing by a variety of standard industry methods:
| |
Compression molding
Filament winding
Pultrusion
Spray-on coating
Flow coating
Resin infusion
Foam expansion
Prepregging
Autoclave curing
|

Functioning as a fire and oxygen barrier, FyreRoc fireproof composites can be processed into complex shapes. By custom selecting reinforcements, FyreRoc fireproof composites can be designed as structural and load bearing products. The resin is compatible with a number of reinforcements including: carbon, glass, stainless steel, and a variety of other unique fibers. FyreRoc composites perform at temperatures up to 2000° F with excellent thermal shock stability.
