Performance Data

Goodrich continues to generate test data on the FyreRoc® fireproof composite material system. This inorganic material can be used in fire barrier and high temperature applications that require a variety of test conditions and test methods are employed. The performance data listed below is a snapshot of typical Structural, Fire, Smoke, and Toxicity (FST) properties of FyreRoc composites.

Fire, Smoke, Toxicity (FST) Properties: Flame Spread

Typical composites can be quite flammable. FyreRoc fireproof composites can provide a high temperature alternative to low temperature, combustible materials.
FyreRoc Fireproof Composite Materials do not burn!
ASTM E-162 Flame Spread Results
Avg. Flame spread Factor – 1.00
     Avg. Heat of Evaluation 1.70
Avg. Flame spread Index – 1.70
     Flame spread Classification Class A

ASTM E -1354 Cone Calorimetry
     No ignition after exposure to
100kw/m2 heat flux for 600 sec.
FyreRoc fireproof composites are incombustible – they do not burn and will not contribute to a fire.

Fire, Smoke, Toxicity (FST) Properties: Smoke Density

FyreRoc fireproof composites do not burn and since the high temperature resin is inorganic, it does not produce smoke.
FyreRoc Fireproof Composite Materials do not smoke!
ASTM E-662 Smoke Density Results
     Ds 1.5 Minutes Flaming – 0.1
          Non-Flaming – 0.2
     Ds 4.0 Minutes Flaming – 0.3
          Non-Flaming – 0.2
     Dm(core) (20 Minutes) Flaming – 0.2
          Non-Flaming – 0.2
FyreRoc fireproof composites do not burn and since the high temperature resin is inorganic, it does not produce smoke.

Mechanical Properties

Presented are a sampling of mechanical properties for FyreRoc fireproof resin impregnated on a variety of reinforcements. High temperature testing was conducted after a 5 minute soak at the test temperature.

Note: All Tests Conducted at Goodrich July 2003
Carbon and Stainless Steel utilize FyreRoc-1001, Glass utilizes FyreRoc-1002
High temperature tests conducted after 5-minute soak at test temperature.

High Temperature Mechanical Properties

FyreRoc fireproof composites exhibit impressive high temperature specific strength, exceed that of conventional materials above 600°F.

FyreRoc fireproof composites exhibit impressive high temperature flexural strength, exceed that of conventional materials above 700°F.
