Acoustic Structures

Goodrich has designed, developed and produced every wire rubber sonar dome used on US Navy ships. Utilization of rubber domes provided the US Navy with superior sonar performance. Our commitment to improving the acoustic superiority for Navy assets will continue as we introduce RHO-COR® composite domes on the next generation of sonar domes.

The RHO-COR® composite material system results in acoustic windows with superior structural properties and with optimum acoustic performance conventional designs. RHO-COR® systems are designed to have low transmission loss and reflectivity over a broad angle of incidence and a wide range of frequencies. The RHO-COR® composite material system is a naturally damped multi-layer composite sandwich product engineered to provide superior structural integrity.
