UUV Acoustic Windows

Goodrich provides a number of specialized acoustic windows for both underwater ranging and communications applications. For ships in harbor, such windows might provide low loss views for swimmer detection systems. New Unmanned Underwater Vehicles (UUV’s) typically communicate acoustically, and our windows can provide highly efficient links between control ship and UUV or between UUV’s. And UUV’s need their own high-resolution sonar systems. EPP can integrate acoustic windows into composite hull structures for maximum performance and cost-effectiveness. Unique EPP capabilities provide low loss performance at varying angles of signal reception.

Using our unique materials and simulation, Goodrich can tailor material properties for maximum performance in the desired frequency range. Mechanical properties are also selected to match the depth and environmental requirements of the application.
